Cuddly Kitten Day
March 15, 2023

Cuddly Kitten Day is March 23rd. This may be one of our favorite days. There are few things more adorable than baby cats. Those tiny mews, their little furry faces, and their curious, playful antics can definitely melt hearts. In fact, it’s almost impossible to resist cuddling little Fluffy! An Emerson, NJ vet discusses cuddling with your feline buddy in this article.

Benefits Of Cuddling Cats

Snuggling up with Fluffy is actually good for both of you. For one thing, it’s wonderful for bonding. Cats think of their humans as sort of second parents. (They also clearly see us as servants, but that’s another topic.) Your furball will feel safe and loved when you’re petting her, which will keep her happy and calm. Kitty cuddles are good for you, too. Snuggling your pet is also great for your mental and emotional health. When you snuggle your furry pal, a special hormone, oxytocin, is released in you both. This reinforces feelings of love and coziness.

Proper Cuddle Techniques

Cuddling little Fluffy isn’t rocket science, but there are some things to keep in mind here. First, be sure to hold your furball properly. Your kitty’s rump and legs should be supporting most of her weight. Never hold a cat by the stomach. This can actually cause internal injuries! Of course, your cute pet may decide to climb onto your shoulders or wrap her paws around your neck. That’s fine, as long as you’re supporting her and are careful not to let her fall. The only other rule of cuddling cats? When Fluffy decides cuddle time is over, just let go.

Kitten Magic

If cats are good at anything, aside from napping and catching mice, it may very well be snuggling. It turns out that Fluffy is extremely well-suited for cuddles. As we all know, our feline pals often purr when they’re being held or petted. Kitties actually vibrate at specific frequencies, usually between 25 and 140 Hertz. Those exact same frequencies have been found to have healing properties. In fact, they are often used in physical therapy!

Cuddle Times

Our feline friends are full of adorable quirks. One of their most charming habits? Fluffy will actually adjust her sleep schedule, so she can snuggle up with you at night. Talk about the purrfect pet!
